The PING G740 is PING's most forgiving iron — designed specifically for high-handicap and super-game-improvement players who benefit most from maximum forgiveness, higher launch, and better turf interaction. A shallower face height and shorter hosel free up significant mass that is redistributed to the back of the cavity, increasing MOI and ensuring ball speed retention even on low-face or off-centre strikes. The G740 is explicitly designed for golfers who tend to hit the ball low on the face, and the wider dual-camber sole positions the CG low and back to help them achieve optimal launch and ball speed from those contact points.

The dual-camber sole design also improves how the club gets in and out of the ground, reducing the chunked and thin shots that plague high-handicap iron play. A three-piece PurFlex cavity badge damps vibrations for a substantially improved sound and feel despite the large, forgiving head profile. Available in steel across Regular and Stiff flex, and in graphite across Light and Regular flex, in 4-PW, 5-PW, 5-PW+UW, 6-PW, and 6-PW+UW, right and left hand.
